Why140 Welcomes the Twitter-Shy, Curious, Enthusiast and Naysayer
Welcome to Why140, the official hub for all things Twitter marketing-related and home of the new business book Twitter Marketing: An Hour a Day, written for the serious marketer, entrepreneur, or newly assigned social community manager from companies large and small (of course, the Twitter newbie might just as easily find the book useful as well!). Why140 is the brainchild of author Hollis Thomases, a 12-year online marketing veteran who authored the book. Among other things, Hollis is founder and CEO of an award-winning online marketing agency and a contributing columnist for ClickZ. You can read more about Hollis here.
So, why is the site called “Why140″ you ask? Great question!
Why140 is a befitting name that speaks to the reservations many people seem to have about using Twitter, the 140-character microblogging platform that dominated news and conversation so much lately that it was named “Word of the Year” in 2009. For those who have dabbled in Twitter and found themselves addicted, you might enjoy finding new information here…or contributing thoughts of your own.
Admittedly, though, not everyone is so enthusiastic. The truth of the matter is, many people simply don’t “get” Twitter as a communication tool let alone a marketing medium. They wonder what the big deal is, scoff at its popularity, question its usefulness, or think it’s just a fad. Most unfortunate are the marketers who may be excited about Twitter but who are unable to justify the investment of time to the decision-makers and bean counters. And some just feel utterly confused by Twitter altogether, having no idea where to begin.
If any of the above describes you or your situation, you’ve come to the right place. Through this companion site to Twitter Marketing: An Hour a Day, author Hollis Thomases and the Why140 Team hope to help educate you about Twitter marketing, point out examples, and help keep you informed of the latest Twitter news. We want to help answer that question, “What can I do in 140 characters that’s really going to help my business anyway?”
